We are well into Charge Conference season now. I am always blessed when I come away from a meeting where the people are happy and excited about what’s going on at their church, and I’m always encouraged by the ministry and outreach of our churches. Regardless of what some are saying, it seems to me that the small church has always been and will continue to be the backbone of Methodism. All of our churches are doing awesome things in the name of Christ, but the members of small churches just seem to be more “hands on.” Perhaps it is because, in the small church, just about everybody has to be involved in some way. It’s hard to hide in the crowd when the crowd is small!
